It’s time to apply for Spartanburg Junior Writing Project 2014, to be enjoyed again at USC Upstate! The dates for this year’s camp are June 9-20, 2014. Our theme is SJWP’s Got S.W.A.G: Students Writing and Growing!
The Spartanburg Junior Writing Project is…
…open to all students who will in grades 3-12 for the 2014-2015 school year
…a wonderful writing-enrichment summer program for students rising to grades 3 through 12.
…an outgrowth of the nationally-recognized Spartanburg Writing Project for teachers.
…an opportunity to work with professional writers, poets, and story-tellers.
…the place to commune with other authors, to renew past SJWP connections, to make new friends, and to celebrate the
…a writer’s-workshop approach to encourage stretching and sharpening writing skills and creativity.
…a field-trip experience with the extra treat of planned on-site writing.
…a guarantee to become a published author in the summer anthology (and, possibly, in other publications).
…a forum for reading and/or performing chosen pieces for an audience.
…a place to enjoy small-group instruction with other writers in similar-grade classes.
…the BEST thing that could happen to a young author!
The registration fee for this incredible opportunity is $150 and the deadline is Friday, May 30, 2014.
|8:30 am||USC Upstate/BMW Manufacturing Academic Outreach Camp George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics|
For rising seniors in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Greenville counties.
The Academic Outreach Camp will introduce students to exciting and real world applications of mathematics and statistics. In addition, their team work and leadership skills will be honed and improved.
Students will gain hands-on experience in learning and applying Lean and Six Sigma tools to computerized challenges, physical simulations, case studies and teaching games.
Students will also have the opportunity to meet with manufacturing professionals using these tools and skills as part of their careers. Students will also participate in an in-depth tour of BMW and USC Upstate’s Healthcare Simulation Center. They’ll even get a chance to improve their driving skills behind the wheel of a BMW vehicle.
