: Rezvani published a book by this title in 2012 based on interviews with 20 female executives. In Pushback, top leadership consultant Selena Rezvani argues that self-advocacy is critical to success. Yet women initiate negotiations four times less often than men, resulting in getting less of what they want—promotion opportunities, plum assignments, and higher pay. This book shines a light on the real rules of holding your own and pushing back for what is rightfully yours. Drawing on interviews with high-level leaders, Rezvani offers readers in the first half of their career the unedited truth about how women have asked their way to the top and triumphed—and how students at Upstate can too. In fact, she addresses Gen Y and millennial women directly as her main audience. She is also the author of The Next Generation of Women Leaders: What You Need to Lead but Won't Learn in Business School.
This will be two back-to-back events featuring the same author. A luncheon will begin at 12noon. At 12:30, the author will speak at a luncheon for the Women Faculty Collective. At 1:40, the author will speak at an event open to students, faculty, staff, and community members (but with a primary focus on female students).
