The Mission of USC Upstate states: “Curricula and services are designed for the University’s students…who are diverse in background, age, race, ethnicity, educational and academic goals.” There is a close relationship between our mission and culturally responsive teaching and learning. Join us for Part II of Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning where a panel of faculty and staff from diverse disciplines, backgrounds, and training, will discuss and demonstrate culturally responsive teaching strategies that aim to create an inclusive classroom environment. Research shows that successful culturally responsive teaching and learning involves:

--Designing instruction that builds on what students already know while stretching them beyond the familiar
--Building on students' personal and cultural strengths
--Examining course content from multiple perspectives
