Finding Tea Cake: An Imagined Black Feminist Manhood

Description:

What the heck is a black male feminist?, asks Dr. Mark Anthony Neal. As part of the 2013 CWGS "I need feminism because" theme, and as part of our campus celebration of Black History Month, Dr. Neal will discuss the relationship of black masculinity to feminist politics. Dr. Neal is Professor of African American Studies at Duke University, and author of several books, including New Black Man (2005) and the forthcoming Looking for Leroy: (Il)legible Black Masculinities (2013). He is also the host of the weekly webcast, "Left of Black."
