SUMMARY:Shoestring Players: Look Homeward Angel
DESCRIPTION:A Thomas Wolfe classic and Pulitzer Prize winning drama, Look 
 Homeward Angel isadapted for the stage by Ketti Fring. The play is set in
  the fictional town of\nAltamont, but is a thinly-veiled autobiography th
 at shocked Wolfe's hometown of Asheville, N.C., when the novel debuted in
  the 1920's. Look Homeward Angel tells the story of the Gant family who l
 ives at the Dixieland Boarding House that is operated by a domineering ma
 triarch who used her children as free labor. It is early autumn of 1916 a
 nd 17-year-old Eugene Gant is about to leave the home that has become a p
 rison for his family. His father seeks sanctuary in drinking and trying t
 o carve the winged grace of an angel in stone. His mother devotes herself
  to the boarding house and its meager rewards. His tubercular brother is 
 doomed, and his sister is a drudge. After a brief affair with a pretty bo
 arder, Eugene rushes toward a brighter future.
